Digital morphogenesis - exploring the creative power of nature through code and simulation
Speaker: Jason Webb
Abstract: For thousands of years, humanity has wondered about how nature is able to conjure the beautiful and awe-inspiring forms and systems we see all around us. At every scale, nature surprises and inspires us with structures and processes we can hardly describe, let alone understand. As technology has advanced, so too have mathematical and computational techniques for modeling nature, opening a new window of opportunity for scientists and artists alike to examine it in new and exciting ways. In this talk I’ll introduce you to some of these techniques and share my own journey of learning about and applying them in creative contexts as someone with a limited mathematical background.
