Lecture by Dr. Garry Myers, Australian Fulbright Distinguished chair in agriculture and life Sciences.  Myers is the Director of the Australian Institute for Microbiology & Infection at the University of Technology Sydney. He completed his PhD on chlamydial biology in 1998 at the University of Sydney (Faculty of Medicine) via the Menzies School of Health Research. He did postdoctoral training at The Institute for Genome Research (TIGR) in Rockville, Maryland,working on microbial genomics and pathogenesis, with numerous high-impact publications, including Science, Nature Biotechnology and Genome Research. In 2005 he was invitedto join the TIGR Faculty. In 2007, along with twelve otherTIGR Faculty, he was a co-founder of the Institute for Genome Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  He is hosted at K-State by The National Agriculture Biosecurity Center.
