Dr. Marzi is a Senior Investigator within the Laboratory of Virology at the NIAID/NIH, which is located at the Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Hamilton, MT. Her research focuses on filovirus pathogenesis and countermeasure development. The lab’s recent research efforts are centered around the determination of the pathogenic potential of novel filoviruses like Bombali virus and Lloviu virus in animal models. Furthermore, the lab is comparing the immune response profiles of different vaccine platforms against filoviruses to identify and develop optimal vaccination strategies in filovirus endemic areas. Dr. Marzi serves on numerous editorial boards, scientific advisory boards, and institutional committees. Dr. Marzi played a pivotal role in conducting preclinical efficacy studies for the now FDA-approved Ebola virus vaccine, for which she was recognized with the Loeffler-Frosch Award by the German Society of Virology.
