College of Architecture, Planning & Design Presents Lecture on "Trends in Housing" by Na’Shon Edwards Sr., MCD - Kansas State University Events

The College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University, through its Department of Landscape Architecture & Regional and Community Planning, will host the Deines Distinguished Lecture titled "Trends in Housing" featuring Na’Shon Edwards Sr., MCD on February 27 at 11:30am in the Regnier Forum, Regnier Hall, K-State Campus.

Na’Shon Edwards Sr. is a Social Justice Fellow with The Memorial Foundation and a doctoral student in Public Policy with an emphasis on Social Policy at Liberty University. He is also a professor of community development at the University of Texas-San Antonio and Kansas State University.

A dedicated researcher, Na’Shon has focused his work on Community Development Research and Policy, particularly in rural and urban regions of Texas, including Houston and Waller County. He actively serves on the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) Houston T4T Leadership Advisory Board and has presented his work through academic organizations such as the American Education Research Association, Community Development Society, and the Community Development Education Symposium.

Beyond academia, Na’Shon is the Principal Consultant at Edwards & Jones Consulting (EJC), a Houston-based political consulting firm that has advised prominent elected officials in Texas. His work challenges barriers in political and civic engagement, especially for young leaders of minority descent.

Na’Shon has been recognized for his contributions with honors such as the City of Houston BRAVO Award and Prairie View A&M University Unknown 8 Recognition. He also served as Director of Public Relations for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. 9th District in 2022. His current research focuses on barriers in Community Development Policy, with aspirations of becoming a leading voice in public policy emphasizing housing and community development.

This lecture is open to students, faculty, and the K-State community. Attendees will gain valuable insights into emerging trends in housing, policy barriers, and strategies for fostering sustainable development.
