About this Event
Cheuk Yu Mak from the University of Sheffield, UK, will present a colloquium titled “Fukaya Category of Hyperplane Arrangements” as part of the Mathematics Department Colloquium Lecture Series.
Abstract: One of the simplest Kahler manifold is C^n. We can obtain more Kahler manifolds by deleting a bunch of hyperplanes of C^n. Although it sounds simple, these objects, called hyperplane arrangements, are quite rich and have been studied from different perspectives.
In this talk, we will focus on the Fukaya category, a symplectic invariant, of hyperplane arrangements. I will explain what it is using punctured planes, 1-dimensional hyperplane arrangements, and illustrate the local to global phenomenon. No prior knowledge on Fukaya category is assumed. This is a joint work with Sukjoo Lee, Yin Li and Siyang Liu.
