Combinatorics Seminar: Joseph Hathaway, KSU will speak about "Generalizations of the 15-Puzzle"

Joseph Hathaway, Kansas State University

Title: Generalizations of the 15-Puzzle

Abstract: The so-called 15-puzzle may be generalized to a puzzle on an arbitrary graph. Wilson's theorem describes the number of components in the puzzle graph of such a generalized game. We review this result, along with further generalizations (Kornhauser theorem) and compute several examples.
