Growing cover crops to enhance soil health and nutrient cycling, suppress weeds, provide supplemental forage are increasingly considered by producers as part of a wheat-based production system. Additionally, cover crops can be grown to improve water quality. However, the water requirements pose a concern for growers in central and western Kansas.

Kansas State University researchers have been evaluating cover crop management options in water-limited environments and will discuss their findings at a Cover Crop Field Day. A free lunch will be provided.
