Dining with Diabetes is a K-State Research and Extension health and wellness program that consists of a series of four classes that include education, demonstrations, physical activity, and tasting healthy foods. The program's focus is to help you learn strategies to lessen the health risks of diabetes.
We will:
* Increase our knowledge about healthy foods
* Make healthy versions of familiar foods and taste recipes
* Demonstrate cooking techniques
* Learn basic information regarding diabetes and nutrition
* Share and learn from one another
The program is a series of four two-hour classes held once a week. Classes include presentations on diabetes self-care, healthful food choices, a five- to ten-minute low-impact physical activity, presentations on tasty, healthy familiar foods, sampling foods, and cooking demonstrations. The program is designed for people with diabetes and their family members, caregivers, and support persons.
