GSC Professional Development - Improving Productivity and Managing Time

Graduate students and post-docs looking to develop general time management skills or time management for complex projects are invited to join this session to:

  • Understand the importance of time management skills from an employer perspective and for career satisfaction and well-being
  • Explore productivity best practices
  • Learn strategies to plan and implement a large project

To make the most use of this session, participants should do the following prior to the webinar:

  • Define a project (ideally a multi-month project like writing a manuscript; an entire dissertation is generally too big for the scope of the activity in the workshop, but it could be a component of a dissertation)
  • Identify a terminal deadline for the project - if the deadline is arbitrary, and are there are additional stakeholders or factors that influence the deadline?
  • Identify major components of the project (ex: milestones, goals)
