About this Event
About Dry Grasses (2023) (Turkey/France/Germany) (Turkish: Kuru Otlar Üstüne) is a 2023 Turkish-language drama film directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan and co-written by Ceylan, Ebru Ceylan, and Akın Aksu.
Synopsis: A young teacher hopes to be transferred to Istanbul after four years of mandatory service in a remote village, but is accused of inappropriate contact by two students. After losing hope, a colleague offers him new perspectives on life.
The Wildcat Film Appreciation Society (WFAS) is hosting a four day film festival on November 14, 15, 16 & 17. Each day features a film from a different part of the world and representing various countries, languages, and cultures. The film screenings will be followed by open discussions on the film to discuss the cultural significance of those films. Established in 2023, the WFAS aims to inspire, promote and foster a love of film art while providing a safe space that allows for discussion and critique of visual media.
This event is co-sponsored by the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome.
