https://coe.k-state.edu/future/kata/index.htmlThe Kansas Advanced Teacher Academy (KATA) summer immersion program is a six-day exploration event designed to foster professional growth in high school students seeking to potentially move into the Teaching profession when they finish their high school.
You’ll be teamed with other high school students for days filled with activities around camps as we explore teaching as a career. You’ll get to visit with our College of Education professors, while hearing from some of our best recent graduates about their experiences and observing our current students teaching middle schoolers in hands-on classes on campus. And, you’ll enjoy tours, a free pass to the Natatorium, bowling, and a trip to Call Hall for their delicious ice cream—the perfect summer treat.
The institute is designed to get you comfortable with your future career, as well as with our beautiful campus. It’ll provide you an opportunity to ask questions and get some one-on-one time with people who are knowledgeable about our award-winning teacher education program. You’ll also stay in one of our residence hall suites for five nights, so you’ll experience another element of life as a college student. Plus, to wrap up the institute, we’ll have a luncheon with presentations and awards to showcase your accomplishments. It’s going to be an energetic time that will make you even more excited about being a teacher!
