Dr. Abby Dubisar (Iowa State University) will present her lecture "Cookbooks for Civic Action: Discovering Activist Food Rhetorics in the Archives."

Analyzing activist cookbooks that span the 1960s to the present, Dr. Dubisar’s research addresses how activists use cookbooks to communicate their rhetorical goals.

How do writers affirm and subvert cookbook norms? How do they embed rhetorical instruction in a cookbook?

These questions and more will be explored with artifacts from K-State’s Richard L. D. and Marjorie J. Morse Department of Archives and Special Collections.
