Lorenz T. “Larry” Biegler, Covestro University Professor of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, will present on the development of nonlinear optimization methods used in process and energy systems over the past four decades. It highlights their applications in process design, control, and operations, and introduces advanced dynamic optimization techniques, including an extended nonlinear model predictive control approach that improves stability, handles uncertainties, and enhances real-time economic performance of chemical processes.
