 ll define braid varieties\, a class of affine algebraic varieties associat
 ed to positive braids\, and explain their relation to Richardson and posit
 roid varieties\, HOMFLY polynomial and Khovanov-Rozansky homology. I will 
 also develop a Soergel-like diagrammatic calculus for correspondences betw
 een the braid varieties.  This is a joint work with Roger Casals\, Mikhail
  Gorsky and Jose Simental Rodriguez.
