Workshop 1: The Day After the Election: How to Make Good Change No Matter Who Wins
What do mac 'n cheese, the road construction in Manhattan, and what you can take in your carry-on luggage have in common? They are all shaped by public policy; in fact, much of our lives is shaped by public policy. So why not join us for this high energy, highly interactive workshop to learn how public policy is made and how you can help make better policy. You'll leave knowing: The huge power of local and state politicians (Congress is only passing 2% of bills, which means more and more issues are hashed out at statehouses and in town councils) Which politician to go to about which issue (did you know U.S. House Members can't do anything about Supreme Court nominees?) How to frame an ask politicians are most likely to say yes to (psssst: it's easier than you think!)
Workshop 1 will be offered three times. Each session includes a 50-min workshop and 30 min of Q&A. Registration will be capped at 40 students per session.
Monday, Oct. 7 | 1:30 - 2:50 p.m. or 3:30 - 4:50 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 8 | 11 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.
Workshop 2: Advanced Policymaking: Your Actionable Skills
We'll take everything you learned in the first workshop and kick it up a notch. You'll walk out with a toolbox of actionable skills to reach your policymakers with minimal effort and maximal impact. This workshop is not bipartisan - and not endorsing any political party.
Workshop 2 is available to anyone who attended Workshop 1:
Tuesday, Oct. 8 | 4 - 5:30 p.m.
Register online. Seating is limited to the first 40 registrants per session. Light refreshments included.
