Quilting Workshop: Modern Improv Quilt Block - Kansas State University Events
Free Event

Would you love to learn how to make a wonky improv quilt block? How about how to approach an entire quilt pattern-less? Come join us to learn how! The class will be offered in-person and virtually via zoom.

Class Information:

For zoom participants, you are encouraged to set up your sewing station & have supplies ready – we will have a short presentation but most of the class with be doing & asking questions.

  • Supplies: Fabrics – I love solids or things that read solid for a modern look – but you can use anything you like. This will mainly be practice fabric… but you may LOVE what you do with it. So – don’t bring your most precious but also not your worst because you won’t like the process if you don’t like the fabric!

  • 3-4 colors of fabrics – fat quarters or yardage

  • 1 background color – at least a yard

  • Good fabric scissors

  • Straight ruler & marking tool (pencil, chalk, pen, washable Crayola marker etc)

  • Rotary cutter & mat

  • Scrap batting for a design “board” – not too big but enough to lay your blocks out and get a nice look at them by the end of the night
