Dr. Jordan Thomas, a 2025 National Book Award finalist and 2016 K-State anthropology alum, will return to campus to lead a workshop in storytelling and narrative non-fiction writing. It will be framed by his vignettes about the writing process and discussions of best practices in narrative storytelling. Participants will get to exercise their own storytelling skills and put words to page with guided prompts and writing interludes. The public is invited to this free event.

Dr. Thomas, an anthropologist and former Los Padres “Hotshot” wildland firefighter, wrote the celebrated nonfiction book, When It All Burns: Fighting Fire in a Transformed World.
