Speaker: Victor Turchin (KSU)

Abstract: It will be an introductory talk about operads and will be accessible to graduate students. Definition and several examples will be considered. I will also speak about Batanin's globular operads that appeared in David Yetter's talks. I will explain this intricate structure with concrete examples of how the composition works in low degrees.  It is planned to be a one hour talk, but if the audience requests to slow down it may become two talks instead.
